The VBeam laser is a pulsed-dye laser (PDL) that effectively treats many blood vessel issues such as spider veins, port wine stains, rosacea, broken capillaries, strawberry hemangiomas, spider veins, and poikiloderma. The PDL laser is an ideal vascular laser for red spots, sunspots, warts, stretch marks, and acne scars. Interestingly, it even speeds up post-treatment bruising that often occurs as a direct result of surgical or cosmetic procedures.
Does the VBeam Work on All Skin Types?
Unfortunately, the VBeam does not work well on individuals with a dark skin tone because the additional pigment (melanin) in the skin blocks the transmission of the wavelength. However, if you have darker skin and you want to treat spots there are other cosmetic options such as laser resurfacing, microdermabrasion, and chemical peels.
Do VBeam Laser Treatments Hurt?
Patients report that they feel extraordinarily little to no discomfort when undergoing VBeam laser treatments. However, if a patient does require extensive treatment on a tough red spot where the laser beam must be precisely targeted then most physicians will apply a local or topical analgesic. While undergoing the treatment you will wear protective eye gear. Also, the VBeam laser is equipped with a cool misting device that protects the skin’s surface during treatment to keep it comfortable. You may feel a warm, tingling sensation, but that is all.
Following treatment, your skin may feel warm and have a mild sunburn-like appearance. However, within a few weeks, the redness subsides, and you will notice that your red spots have significantly improved.
