In the United States, skin cancer remains the most common cancer diagnosis. According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, 178,560 people will be diagnosed with melanoma (the most severe form of skin cancer) and the Prevent Cancer Foundation reports that 9,940 will die as a result of the carcinoma. An additional two million people will face a diagnosis of non-melanoma skin cancer (basal cell or squamous cell carcinoma).
