Have you been dreaming about longer lashes? Well, Latisse is a wonderful option to grow the lashes you have always wanted.
The History of Latisse
Latisse is a type of eye drop known as bimatoprost that was used to treat glaucoma. It was approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2001 for glaucoma. At that time, physicians noticed that their patients started to grow longer, more lush eyelashes.
Latisse Results
Most people experience longer, thicker and darker lashes with Latisse. It appears to extend the growth phase and the number of actual hair follicles. It takes 12 to 16 months of daily use to truly experience the full effects. However, you may start to see new growth in only two to three months. If you cease using Latisse, your eyelashes will return to their pre-treatment state.
Common Latisse results include:
- An increase in eyelash length
- Added thickness and fullness
- Eyelash darkening
How to Use Latisse
Dab Latisse along the upper lash line every night before bed. The medication spreads to the lower lashes every time you blink or when your eyes are closed. You must use a new applicator when you apply the product to maintain a sterile situation. Care should always be taken to only dab the Latisse along the lash line because it can spur hair growth wherever the substance touches. On infrequent occasions, a darkening of the iris has been reported. Once you cease using Latisse, the side effects go away. However, the darkening of the iris often does not change.
Side Effects of Latisse
Latisse is safe for most people. However, some individuals cannot use the medication due to underlying health reasons or if pregnant or breastfeeding.
On rare occasions, users have reported dry eyes or darkening of the skin around the eyes. Eye redness and itchiness might also occur. If you experience any side effects when using Latisse, you should automatically report them to your physician.
Latisse remains a relatively new treatment to encourage eyelash growth.
